Dimatec is pleased to announce the addition
of two new impregnated bit matrices to our popular “HR-Series”
range. These matrices have been designated as “HR11”
and “HR12” and have been designed for use in
high compressive strength formations with a rock hardness
in the Mohs 7 to 8 range.
Like the existing “HR7”, “HR8”,
“HR9 and “HR10” matrices, the new “HR11”
and “HR12” matrices perform well when low to
moderate bit weights are applied along with fluid circulation
rates approaching the maximum recommended value for a particular
bit size. Field tests have indicated that bit performance
is optimized when moderate rotational speeds are employed.
(A peripheral speed of 9 to 10 feet/sec or 2.7 to 3.1 metres/sec
measured on the outside diameter of the bit crown).
The new “HR11” matrix has been designed to
replace the former “D11” matrix while the “HR12”
matrix has been designed to replace the former “D12”
matrix. Unlike their predecessors, the “HR11”
and “HR12” matrices are not subject to the same
manufacturing process limitations that existed for the “D11”
and “D12” matrices. As such, the “HR11”
and “HR12” matrices are available for all bit
sizes, crown profiles, waterway configurations and impregnation
depths that are available for all other “D-Series”
and “HR-Series” products. In addition, comparative
field tests with the “HR11” and “HR12”
matrices against “D11” and “D12”
products have indicated that the “HR11” and
“HR12” products are considerably more durable
than the “D11” and “D12” matrices.
In general, the “HR11” and “HR12”
products obtained significantly higher overall bit life.
They performed well in both hard, consolidated formations
as well as hard, broken and banded formations.
